As I look ahead to the starting my first cycle of 21 Day Fix EXTREME tomorrow, I am planning out my goals. I am setting one scale goal (loss of at least 3 pounds for the 21 days---1/week). The more important goals are met without using the scale (non-scale targets, measurements, goals, etc.). I am relying mostly on the non-scale targets for this first cycle. One non-scale target is to see progress in weekly photographs. I will compare how I look each week and monitor progress this way, as I did in 2016. Back then, the scale didn't budge for the first month. Because I was documenting my progress in pictures, I was able to see success, even when the scale decided to stay the same (or even increase). Without this, I am not sure I would've continued on. When I compare photographs I am looking to see any changes: my clothes fitting differently or proof that I am losing mass from my body in my face, arms, legs, belly. Another non-scale target I have set up for this first cycle (that I also used in 2016) is gauging my workout progress. I imagine my first week on this new program is going to be brutality meets disaster and I'm totally, 100% ok with that. I imagine during this adjustment cycle, it will be a struggle to use even LIGHT weights for these exercises and the cardio bits will be a struggle. However, I will measure my progress by counting reps and paying attention to when I use weights or increase the weight or do more of the exercise for the 30 second/ minute interval to know I am getting stronger and progressing to my goals of good health (even if the scale refuses to budge or show it). I do not have a tape measure with me for this cycle to do measurements (which is another excellent non-scale tool that I used in 2016). If I happen to find one or come across one before tomorrow, I will add it in to my other non-scale targets and measurements. If not, I will definitely use it during my second cycle. So. This lazy Sunday is about all about doing nerdy things I like (writing and reading) and maybe even some light yoga. Tomorrow the real work begins.

Walk in peace and mellow grooviness my most excellent peeps + keep being great!
