Progress Update

This past week was the first week since August 14th that I managed to get in 6 workouts. I also ate better. Currently, I am 3 pounds up from where I'd hope I'd be at this time, however I'll take it and still consider it progress. I have been adjusting to a new job for the past 4 weeks and even though I am extremely happy at that job, it still is exhausting to be the "new kid" figuring out the ins and outs. There also is a delightful new thing I call "pizza Fridays" at work with which I had to contend. I also didn't stress eat or gain weight during the the possibility of being in hurricane Dorian's uncertain path or even afterward, when seeing the devastation of the Bahamas in the aftermath of Dorian (which was stressful and upsetting). I haven't even tried to pacify my anxiety at the daily news dump items that anger me and stress me out. A tan suit is not a big deal. A Sharpied map to justify a stupid lie about a dangerous storm heading somewhere it isn't IS a big deal. Being told you will get to keep your doctor wasn't meant to be a lie; Obama had every intention of delivering that. To me, that was a foolish promise that couldn't be kept, mainly because of the obstructionists that helped to make that become a lie. Yet saying that the current first lady knows people she has never met is an intentional, bald face lie. Intentions are everything. The spinning is dizzying. The hypocrisy is astounding. It angers me. It stresses me. The uncertainty of an erratic and unhinged administration is enough to keep me in a state of anxiety. To manage, I must meditate daily. I must focus on body sensations continuously, while breathe through tension. Otherwise, this sort of duress would throw me into an interminable sugar binge. Not this time. The meditation and return to breath helps. I also am super motivated. This time feels different than all the others. Now truly is the time to harness this motivation and lose 100 pounds. Not to be dramatic, but I may need to outrun a shooter or participate in a protest. I can't be carrying 100 extra pounds around.
So, cycle three of the 21 Day Fix Extreme program begins tomorrow. I have prepped vegetable beef soup and chicken vegetable stir fry for the week. I'll head to the grocery store later to get fruits and veg to fill in for the week's meals. I will aim for working out 7 times this week and stick to Friday cheat day only (which really is just 2 cheat meals).
I'm making progress and focusing on that, rather than aiming for perfection.
Walk in beauty and peace, my pees.
